An incomplete early medieval (Anglo Saxon) penny of of Burgred of Mercia (AD 852-874). Lunette 'type A'. Moneyer: probably Dealinc (North 423). Ref: North 1994: 100 The coin has an irregular break running between 9 and 3 o’clock, as seen on the obverse, leaving only half of its preserved. This break is ragged and does not look to be the result of the coin being cut.
