Silver coin. Penny of Eadger of England (959-975), kindly identified by Martin Allen as HPI (North 742), and the sixth example of an issue of a previously unrecorded moneyer, probably based at York, 959-973. Chipped.
Obverse description: Small central cross pattee; a similar cross close to the inner edge of the inner circle. Also initial cross pattee, again the same.
Obverse inscription: +[--]DGAR' REX ANG
Reverse description: Legend over two lines separated by a line of three crosses pattee and framed by a pellet top and bottom.
Reverse inscription: ASHV / +++ / NDH[?O]
