Silver coin. Penny of Edward the Martyr (975-978), Lincoln mint issue of the moneyer Grind, as kindly identified from photographs by Peter Spencer, at the behest of the finder. Peter describes this coin as 'very rare'. Obverse description: Diademed and draped bust left. Initial cross pattee. Obverse inscription: +AEDVV[A]RD [?REX].ANGL Reverse description: Small central cross pattee. Reverse inscription: +GRIND M-O LINDCOL, citing Peter Spencer's reading. Diameter: 20.1mm, Weight: 1.18gms, die axis: 2
