A coin brooch made from a halfpenny of Henry I, Canterbury mint, Moneyer Winedei (North 872), cAD1107 (EMC 2015.0120). The reverse of the coin has been gilded and pierced by six small circular holes of which four are in line. Three holes retain rivets, which are presumably also of silver. Medieval short cross cut halfpenny, possibly of Henry II or Richard I, but Henry II to Henry III cannot be ruled out. 18mm in diameter, 0.5mm thick and 0.72 grams in weight. The coin is very worn but the obverse shows the left hand side of the kings portrait with the sceptre just visible. Little of the inscription can be made out but it should read HENRICUS REX. The reverse shows the edge of the short cross and part of the inscription which reads N or HOL. The coin has a dark patina and an uneven surface.
