The obverse side has a row of small pellets below a band, which may possibly be a crown, with larger circles marked underneath to possibly show hair. The rest of the bust is not present, due to the penny being cut. Legend: HENRI [CUS REX]. The reverse is a voided quaterfoil with half a star in the centre and two lis either side. Legend: L [...]. The coin is 21.08mm in diameter and weighs 0.61 grams.

Medieval clipped hammered silver coin of Henry I, a cut haflpenny. It is a quadrilateral on cross fleury type and is BMC xv therfore the last issue of Henry's reign. The mint and moneyer are unknown. Though the letters NHE are visible, it was not minted in Bury St Edmunds as the inscription is wrong. Obverse legend should read HENRIC REX. Dates to 1134 or 1135. Length 18mm and width 8mm.

The date is circa 1123 AD.
