A worn and fragmented early Medieval silver cut halfpenny of Henry I (1100-1135 AD). The obverse shows a crowned bust facing with the partial legend; [...]RICVS[...]. The reverse has a quatrefoil with internal cross; beaded inner circle, with three annulets in a trefoil configuration at the end of each quatrefoil limb. There is a lis in each of the spandrels. The reverse legend reads [...]NE:O[...] and therefore neither the mint or moneyer can be determined. The coin is Class BMC 14; North, English Hammered Coinage vol 1 (1994) p198 No. 870. The date is circa 1123 AD.
