A bent and worn medieval silver penny of Henry I (AD 1100-1135), 'quatrefoil and piles' type (c.AD 1111; BMC Type 7; North 863), moneyer: Alfred (probably), mint: London. Ref: North 1994: p.197. Obverse: bust of the king facing, crowned and diademed. Legend: HENRI [REX]. Reverse: quatrefoil with piles type with four semi-circles and four piles alternating, each pile surmounted by an annulet. Legend: +A[LF]RE[D:O]N:LVN Allen (2022, appendix B, p.191) lists Alfred as a London moneyer for this type.
