Description: Quadrilateral on cross fleury type (BMC XV; Spink 1276). Uncertain moneyer and mint.
The coin is damaged, with a triangular section missing from the flan, and appears to have been clipped.
Measurements: Diameter: 19.1 mm and Weight: 1.22 g.

A complete silver medieval penny of Henry I (AD 1100-1135) dating to c. AD 1109. Obverse with bust facing, crowned and diademed; in right hand, a sceptre surmounted by a quatrefoil of annulets; in field right, a star and a quatrefoil of annulets. Reverse with cross pattee within pointed quatrefoil; in field, four quatrefoils of annulets. The coin has been officially 'snicked' in the edge to show that it is good silver. BMC type IX. Mint: Hastings. Moneyer: Sperling. As North no. 865.
