A MODERN replica of an early-medieval penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), Radiate/ Small cross type (1044-46), Reference: North 816.
The coin was most likely produced by David Greenhalgh, aka Grunel Moneta, a re-enactor who produces replicas of a wide variety of coins, often with the reverse displaying the name 'GRVNAL'. This coin is not listed on the current website (http://www.grunal.com/; Oct 2013). See T Abramson (2012), Anglo-Saxon Counterfeits').

A modern forgery in silver of an early-medieval penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), 'expanding cross' type, light coinage (North 820), naming the Warwick mint and the moneyer Lufinc.
The coin has been identified as part of a series of coin produced by Trevor Ashmore in the 1970s and 1980s (see Abramson 2012, 190).
Diameter: 19mm; weight: 1.13g (17.4gn); die axis is 0.
