A copper-alloy rose farthing of Charles I (AD 1625-1649). The obverse shows a crown with two sceptres crossed through (unclear but probably a single arched crown). The initial mark is a Mullet (AD 1644) Oxford mint. Obverse legend reads: CAROLV/D.G./[MA.B]RI. The reverse shows a crowned rose. Reverse legend reads: FRA:ET[.HI:RE]X. The initial mark on this side of the flan is extremely unclear but may possibly be a crescent. Die axis is 12 o'clock. Weight is 0.78g, diameter is 13.7mm, thickness is 1.1mm.

This perforation has a sub-rectangular shape and is positioned close to the edge of the inner field, just below the bottom of the legend lettering (at about 7 or 8 o'clock on the obverse and 11 or 12 oclock on the reverse side of the flan).
