A silver short cross penny of John (1199-1216) or Henry III (1216-1272), London mint, moneyer RAUF. Description: The penny is a class 6c(2) with some ornamental lettering. The bust has three hair curls to each side with a pellet in the two upper curls only. Measurements: Diameter 18.86mm: Weight 1.45g Discussion:  North reference N976/2. Dated 1216-1217. The ornamental lettering is characteristic of this class. On this coin, the D and the F have an extra vertical line to the back of the letter.
