Object is a complete, silver, pierced penny of William I (1066-1087) dating to (c. 1083-1086). The obverse features the crowned front facing bust of William I holding a sceptre in his left hand, 3 annulets on right shoulder. Legend around. The coin is pierced at 12 o'clock. The reverse features a cross pattee with letters in each angle, legend around. PAXS Type?  moneyer Beorhtwine (BRIHTPINE)? at the mint of London?. The coin weighs 2.0g and is 18.6mm in diameter.
