An Early Medieval silver penny of Edward the Confessor (AD 1042-1066), dating AD 1044-1046. North no. 816. Radiate bust facing left on the obverse, inscription reading EDWAR / D REX. The reverse depicts a small cross pattee in the centre of a circle. The inscription reads LEOFǷINE ON SAND, minted in Sandwich. Dimensions: diameter: 17.14 mm; weight: 0.74g.

An Early Medieval silver coin: a cut halfpenny of Edward the Confessor (AD 1042 - 1066), Pyramids Type dating from AD 1065 - 1066. The Moneyer is Godwine (Godpine) but the mint is unknown. The centre of the O in GODPINE is so deeply struck that it is actually a tiny hole through the coin. See North Volume 1 (1994), page 181, number 831 which is BMC XV. There is an extra pellet in the first quarter of the reverse. The coin is 18.1mm long, 9.2mm wide and 0.8mm thick. 0.5g.

The coin is 17.5mm long, 8.3mm wide and 0.5mm thick. 0.41g.
