An extremely worn and flattened silver penny, probably of Stephen (1135-1154 AD). Coin Type BMC vii; Awbridge (c. 1154-1158 AD). A silver penny of Stephen AD 1135-1154. This is a substantive type (c. 1135-1141). Due to the fact that there is no inner circle on the obverse, this coin could only have been minted in either: Bedford, Canterbury, Carlisle, Lincoln, London, Norwich, Oxford, Southwark or Warwick. The coin had been bent in half which has left a cracked fold line down the centre of the coin, the coin has been straighten out by the finder.
