A hammered silver penny of Alexander III (1249-1286), 1st Coinage, voided Long Cross and Stars Coinage c. 1250 - 1280 AD - uncertain type. Poorly struck obverse with remnant of portrait hair and part of legend, reverse with voided long cross and a star to each quadrant. The coin is struck off centre on the reverse. Mint and moneyer unknown but possibly Adam on Roxburgh. Diameter 18.6mm, 0.34mm thick and weighs 1.5gm.
