13th century Continental sterling imitation of John I penny dating from c. AD1261-1294. It was minted in Brussels. It is probably a Mayhew 40 (too illegible to assign a letter). The Obverse has a crowned bust facing forward and the legend reads [I DVX BRABAN] TIE. The reverse has a long cross with 3 pellets in each quarter, and the legend reads BRV [XEL LEN SIS].
