A silver Early Medieval coin; a penny of Edward the Confessor (AD 1042 - 1066), small flan type dating from AD 1048 - 1050. Mint of York, moneyer Thor (ÐOR). Measurements are; diameter 14.1mm, thickness 09mm and weight 1.10g. The surface of the coin has unusual pinprick pits. A good parallel is EMC number : 1054.1083. See North number 818 on page 179.

An Early Medieval silver coin: a cut halfpenny of Edward the Confessor (AD 1042 - 1066), Pyramids Type dating from AD 1065 - 1066. The Moneyer is Godwine (Godpine) but the mint is unknown. The centre of the O in GODPINE is so deeply struck that it is actually a tiny hole through the coin. See North Volume 1 (1994), page 181, number 831 which is BMC XV. There is an extra pellet in the first quarter of the reverse. The coin is 18.1mm long, 9.2mm wide and 0.8mm thick. 0.5g.

The coin is 17.5mm long, 8.3mm wide and 0.5mm thick. 0.41g. An early medieval silver coin: a cut farthing of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), Trefoil Quadrilateral type (1046 - 1048), moneyer probably Osferth at Lincoln. It is 13.2mm long, 9.3mm wide and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 0.33gm. For reference, see North, volume 1, number 817. Only one other coin of this type and moneyer has been found on either EMC or PAS databases: see EMC number 1996.0249.

A late Anglo-Saxon silver coin: an expanding cross type penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-1066), a north east variety dating from 1050 - 1053 probably. Part of the rim of the flan is missing, between one o'clock and four o'clock on the obverse. It is 18.1mm in diameter and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 0.94gm. It was probably struck at Lincoln by Colgrim.
