A complete worn and misstruck silver groat of Mary (r.1553-1558) dating to the period AD1553 - 1554. Minted at the Tower of London, Pomegranate mint mark with annulet stops. North (1991, p.126) no.1960 Coin presents some evidence of double striking, as shown by double and ghost letters, particularly clearly in the first quarter of the reverse which has part of the long cross arm and an extra S in it 'VRTA/+/S+TEM' Measurements: 3.21mm in diameter, 0.83mm thick and 1.88g in weight.
