A complete post-medieval silver sixpence of Elizabeth I whose reign lasted from AD 1558-1603. Third issue (AD 1573-1577) (North 1997, Spink 2562-2563 - end date as of Spink 2003), London mint. An incomplete and worn post-medieval silver hammered groat of Queen Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603), of the second Coinage (AD 1558-1561). Initial mark: Cross crosslet (AD 1560-1561), indicating it was minted in Thomas Stanley's mint in the Tower of London. See North, II, 1991, p. 133, no. 1986.
Obverse: Worn smooth, with a line down the coin perhaps indicating it was bent at some point in antiquity.
