1620-1625. Brass, cast, James I, square shaped biface gold angel coin weight. Gold angel coin weight when this was worth ten shillings (1620-1632) probably made in Cologne or Nuremberg. Obverse: Saint Michael angel with halo spearing a dragon within a beaded border within a plain border. Reverse: Crown over 'X.S' within a plain border (for ten shillings) over stamped in top left hand corner with a Royal cypher - crown over I for 'J' i.e. James. A Post-Medieval copper alloy rose and orb jetton. The jetton is poorly preserved, however, from those sections of the legend that can be read it is probable that this example comes from one of the Hans Schultes Guild Master workshops of the late-sixteenth to seventeenth centuries AD.

A copper alloy post medieval Nuremburg jeton of the rechenmeister type from an anonymous issuer. This example is not directly paralleled by any in Mitchiner, but is very similar to examples on p.415. Jetons such as this were used in financial calculations as is shown on this example, where the rechenmeister (accountant) is using the jetons in his calculations and entering the results in the accounts book.
