A silver cut halfpenny* of Henry VII, minted at Durham under Bishop Sherwood, 1485-1503.
In addition to having been cut in half, there is a deliberate piercing, located 2mm in from the edge of the flan. The coin measures 14.6mm in diameter, 0.1mm thick and weighs 0.2g.
*A halfpenny coin was struck during the reign of Henry VII and cut halfpennies from the period are unusual. It is possible that the cutting of the coin relates to its conversion into a piece of jewellery.
