Medieval silver penny of William I (1066-87), Profile / Cross and trefoils type (1080-3; North 847, BMC viii), Minted by Oteer at Dorchester. ref: North 1994:192.
The obverse legend is unsual, with extra lettering and the seeming ligation of the M and R. However there is a trace of the original upright of the R under the second upright of the M suggesting they were over struck rather than deliberately ligated, either on the die in error, or on the coin.
