Mint of Aquileia, AD 378-83 (Reece period 20), RIC IX, p.100, no. 28 (b). The reverse has been over-struck, apparent below the mintmark. Measures 17.05mm, weighs 1.50g, die axis 7.

An incomplete, unclipped silver siliqua of Valentinian II, AD375-392. Mint is Aquileia. Reverse legend reads [VRBS] ROMA. Reverse shows Victory standing left holding [Victory] and spear. See RIC IX, p.96, no.15c. Obverse shows pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Obverse legend reads [D N VALE]NTINIANVS IVN PF AVG. Reverse fields and exergue read: -//AQPS. Die axis is 6 o'clock, weight is 1.11g, diameter is 18.25mm. This is a find of note: There were no examples of this rare coin in the Hoxne Hoard.
