An unclipped contemporary copy of a Roman siliqua of Honorius, AD393-423. This coin is copying a coin minted at Aquileia, Reece period 21. Reverse legend reads VRBS ROMA. Reverse shows Roma seated right, holding spear and Victory on globe.
Obverse shows pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Obverse legend read DN HONORIVS PF AVG. Reverse fields and exergue read: -/-//AQLP dot. Condition is very fine, die axis is 12 o'clock, weight is 1.32g, diameter is 16.85mm.
Find of Note: this unusual contemporary copy is not present in the Hoxne Hoard.

An incomplete, unclipped silver siliqua of Valentinian II, AD375-392. Mint is Aquileia. Reverse legend reads [VRBS] ROMA. Reverse shows Victory standing left holding [Victory] and spear. See RIC IX, p.96, no.15c.
Obverse shows pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. Obverse legend reads [D N VALE]NTINIANVS IVN PF AVG. Reverse fields and exergue read: -//AQPS. Die axis is 6 o'clock, weight is 1.11g, diameter is 18.25mm.
This is a find of note: There were no examples of this rare coin in the Hoxne Hoard.

A silver Roman half-siliqua, anonymous issue, of the House of Theodosius, possibly dating to the period c.AD 392-393 (Reece Period 21). Reverse: X V within a wreath. As Bendall, 2003: no. 3.
In a note on these anonymous 4th century half-siliquae, Roger Bland notes that the vota reverse may be significant in terms of the dating of these issues, potentially linking it to the 15th anniversay of Valentinian II (388-389 AD) or the 15th anniversary of Theodosius II (392-393 AD).
