An incomplete silver Medieval penny of Stephen (AD 1135 to 1154), a Watford type dating from AD 1136 - 1145, North number 874, BMC type i, cf. m276 - 282, probably minted by Erebald at Carlisle. Just less than half the coin survives.Dimensions; diameter 15.6mm, thickness 0.6mm and weight 0.3g.
Obverse: Bust right, crowned and diademed, holding a sceptre. Legend illegible
Reverse: A cross moline with a fleur in the visible angles and the partial legend [..ER]EBAL[D...].

The coin was poorly struck on a slightly irregular flan.
