Post-medieval well-worn silver penny of Henry VIII, probably of the third coinage dated to AD 1544-1547 and minted in Canterbury. The obverse is facing bust of second type (cf. North (1991) p. 108) with the legend [ ] G. ROSA SIN[E] SP[ ] . The stop of the legend is a lozenge. Reverse comprises long cross over a shield with legend /CIVI/[ ]S/[ ]/TOR . The coin has been pierced at approximately 1 o'clock on the obverse and has been clipped extensively around the edges.
Diameter 16.17mm, thickness 0.39 mm, weight 0.52g.
