A silver Roman Republican denarius of Sextus Pompey (42-40 BC) dating to 42-40 BC (Reece Period 1). CLAS ET OR AE, MAR IT EX S C (in exergue) reverse type depicting Neptune standing left, holding aplustre in right hand and cloak over left arm, placing foot on prow; on either side, one of the Catanaean brothers, bearing his father on his shoulders. Mint in Sicily. Dimensions - diameter = 19.36mm, thickness = 2.02mm, weight = 3.3gm.

A worn silver Roman Republican denarius of anonymous issue minted in Sicily between 211-210 BC. The obverse depicts the helmeted bust of Roma while the reverse depicts two galloping dioscuri with spears on the reverse. The wear on this coin suggests it was in circulation for a long time. Crawford 72/3.
