A silver Roman Republican denarius of Mark Antony, dating to 32-31 BC (Reece Period 1) and struck by a travelling mint. The reverse depicts a legionary eagle between two standards and the legend LEG XI. Only the bottom part of the right standard is visible. To the obverse is a galley right with the legend ANT AVG above and III.VIR.R.P C below. The coin measures 16.74mm diameter, 1.9mm thick and weighs 3.7 grams. These coins were struck by Mark Antony for the use of his fleet and legions when he was preparing for the struggle with Octavius.

Roman coin: plated contemporary copy of a silver denarius of Mark Anthony, dating to c.32-31BC. It is Legionary coinage made by a travelling mint. The obverse shows a Galley with banners. It is inscribed [ANT AUG III VIR RPC]. The reverse depicts two Legionary Standards, with a Legionary eagle between them. It is inscribed [LEG XVI]. Crawford, pp. 539-541, No. 544. These coins were struck by Mark Antony for the use of his fleet and legions when he was preparing for the struggle with Octavius, which culminated in the Battle of Actium on the 2nd of September, 31 BC (Grueber, 1970, 526)
