A silver republican denarius issued by Julius Caesar, dating to the period c.47-46 BC (Reece Period 1). Obverse shows Head of Venus right, wearing diadem. Obverse has no legend. Reverse shows Aeneas left, carrying Anchises on left shoulder and palladium in right hand. Reverse legend reads CAESAR. Die axis is 6 o'clock, weight is 3.39g, diameter is 18.29mm. African mint.
