A fragment of a post-medieval silver sixpence of Edward VI (1547-53), third period dating 1550-53 (North 1939), mint: York, initial mark: mullet. Ref: North 1991: 123.   The coin is worn and fragmented, with only around a quarter of the coin surviving . The breaks are straight but uneven suggested the coin has not been cut.  Length: 16.25 mm; Weight: 0.75g.

A silver halfpenny Of Henry VIII, second coinage, mint of York. The obverse has a facing bust with the initials 'T' and 'W' either side of the head, representing Archbishop Thomas Wolsey. Wolsey was made Archbishop of York in 1514 and died in 1530; North's classification (number 1818) dates this coin from 1526, and as Wolsey died in discrace facing charges of treason, it is unlikely to have been struck after 1530.
