An incomplete early-medieval silver penny of Edward the Confessor (1042-66), 'small flan' type (North 818; BMC ii) dating to c.1048-50. Moneyer: Æthelstan (ÆSTAN), mint: Warwick (ǷÆRI). Ref: North 1994: 179.
The coin is missing much of the beaded outer, chipped at top of the coin and missing a section of the lower part of the obverse bust between about 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock.
