Here we have an example of a hammered silver long cross penny, probably from the reign of Edward I (1272-1307) but Edward II is also a possibility. Whichever monarch it may be, it is from the Berwick-on-Tweed mint and if pushed to choose, I would favour Edward I – Berwick type IV.
The coin is centrally struck but the upper right quadrant from the obverse is badly worn.
