Silver coin. Scots halfpenny of David II (1329-1371), as kindly identified by the finder, probably first coinage, possibly Berwick mint, first issue of 1330-1333, Seaby no. 5083. Obverse description: Bust left with sceptre before face. Initial cross pattee. Obverse inscription: +DAVID DEI GRACIA Reverse description: Long cross, mullet of five points in alternate angles. Reverse inscription: +RE/X:SC/OTO/RVM Diameter: 16mm, Weight: 0.50gms, die axis: 3

A Scottish penny of David II (1329-1371), of the second issue small letters variety with four mullets of six points, the mint is unknown but most likely Edinburgh as Berwick was under English control at the time. The coin can be dated to c. AD 1351-57. Obverse: DA[VI]D DEI [GRACIA]; crowned bust left. Reverse: [RE]X SCOTTORVM; long cross dividing legends, a mullet in each quarter. Dimension: 17mm in diameter, 0.90g, clipped.
