A copper alloy coin dating from the Roman period: a nummus of Constantine I (AD 306-337) struck between AD 326 and 328, Reece period 16, PROVIDENTIAE AVGG reverse type depicting a camp-gate with two turrets and a star above. The coin is 19.6mm in diameter, 1.5mm thick and weighs 1.88g. Probably mint of Thessalonica (SMTSB or SMTSE in exergue). Compare LRBC number 811 on page 20 and compare RIC VII, page 158, number 153, consulted at http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.7.thes.153.
