An Early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) silver penny of Eadmund (AD936-946). Bust crowned type. North no. 698. Martin Allen writes: "This is an excellent example of the Bust Crowned type of Eadmund (939-946) by the Norwich moneyer Manticen, who also produced the Bust Crowned type for Athelstan (924/5-39). The reverse, which is from the same die as a coin in the Norwich Castle Museum (SCBI 26,1118) reads MANTICEN MO NORPC. There are eight coins of Manticen in this type in the EMC/SCBI database, but they are all in the museums and this is the first find recorded in EMC." Dimensions: diame…
