Silver coin. Short cross penny, class 5b issue for John (1199-1216), issue of 1204-1209. The coin is weakly struck on a large flan. Probably Northampton mint by moneyer Adam though initial cross potent is odd for class 5b [contradicting Wren 1992]. Obverse description: Facing bust; with sceptre left mouth, chin pellet and round collar the most prominent features. Obverse inscription: hENRICVS.R  EX Reverse description: voided short cross, quatrefoil in each angle. Initial cross potent. Reverse inscription: +AD/AM./ON.N/NORh Diameter: 19.4mm, Weight: 1.28gms, die axis: 2

A Medieval silver coin: a penny of Henry II (1154 - 1189), class 1b, Northampton mint, moneyer Willelm dating from AD 1180 - 1185. There is a section missing from the flan between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock on the obverse and the coin is cracked. It is 20mm in diameter and 0.8mm thick. It weighs 1.27gm. Reference: North, volume 1, page 220, number 963.

A Medieval, silver, long cross penny of Henry III, class IIIa, Northampton mint, moneyer Philip. The coin is complete but was damaged and folded over with several cracks when found. This folding was irregular, not along a central line and did not appear to be deliberate. It was almost certainly damage from farm machinery. It has, subsequently, been straightened.
