The coin has been polished smoothly and countermarked/counterstamped with the word RUN three times in total. Once on the obverse and twice on the reverse. The finder supplies notes of research in Trade Directories and other sources identifying the location as Sutton Wash, now Sutton Bridge, the area where the River Nene joins the Wash, and the probable issuer as Samuel Leader (1787-1870). Leader was a local blacksmith from 1818 to 1834, leasing the business in 1847, and latterly worked as a wheelwright and small farmer. The restriking of the coin was presumably at his forge.
