An incomplete, possibly clipped, Medieval silver penny of Edward IV (second reign AD 1471-83) dating to AD 1473-8. Waterford Mint. Sphink 6379A. Much of the circumfrence between 2 and 9 o'clock has been lost either to clipping or damage.

Silver Irish penny of Edward IV (1461-1483), Light "Cross and Pellets" coinage dating from 1473-1478, Waterford mint. There are rosettes by the neck of the bust and on either side of the crown on the obverse and a quatrefoil in the centre of the cross on the reverse. The coin is clipped so that only part of the reverse legend survives. See Spink's Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands page 135, nos.6379A & 6382, but these have annulets and crosses by the neck, so this coin seems to be a new type for the Waterford mint. Finder has conferred with Jasper Burns who suggests that…
