A silver halfpenny of Edward I Second Coinage ('EDW') 1279-1302. The crowned bust is in a triangle rather than the circle used in England and the coin was minted in Waterford, Ireland. The obverse design is quite distinct as it retained the triangle surrounding the portrait rather than the circle used in England. Irish coins were acceptable in England

An Irish Medieval silver coin; a farthing of Edward I (AD 1272-1307), minted at Waterford, and dating from AD 1279 - 1295. Spink (2003) Coins of Scotland, Ireland and the Islands number 6268 on page 127. Ther appears to be an error in the obverse legend which reads E R ANGNE instead of E R ANGLIE. The coin is 10.8mm diameter, 0.6mm thick and 0.35g. Obverse: ERA/NG/NE; Crowned bust within a triangle Reverse: CIVI/TAS/VATE/RFOR; Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant.

A hammered silver Edwardian Irish penny, struck in Waterford between 1272-1377. On the obverse is a forward facing bust within a triangle with the legend: .EDW.R.ANGL'DNS hYB. On the reverse is a long cross with three pellets in each angle with the legend: CIVITAS WATERFOR. The coin has been bent, possibly for use as a love token.
