An early-medieval (Anglo-Saxon) silver halfpenny of Edward the Elder (899-924), Horizontal/Two-Line type (HT1; North 650), moneyer: Wulfheard, mint: Wessex (Winchester?). Ref: North 1994: 127. The coin is slightly bent but otherwise complete. Obverse: small cross pattee, EADVVEARD Rxx Reverse: moneyer's name in two lines divided by a row of three crosses, VVIII/+++/HARD As BMC ii, North 650, moneyer as North 649.
