Fragment of a Late Saxon penny, St Eadmund memorial coinage dating to the period c. AD 890 - 910. Obverse, [...IC...] (A inverted), in centre A. Reverse, [...OA[...]; cross pattee. The "A" in the reverse legend is inverted.
Memorial coinage by Danish settlers. The inscriptions are blundered, which is typical of the later coins within the St Edmund series.
Probably North, Vol. I, p. 79, no. 483/2.

An early-medieval silver East Anglian Viking penny of St Edmund Memorial type (North 483), c.905-15. Ref: North 1991: 108-9; Blackburn and Pagan 2002.
The obverse inscription SCE AIDM places the coin within the phase of the coinage post-dating the Cuerdale hoard of c.905 from which many St Edmumd Memorial pennies are known.

A silver Saint Eadmund memorial penny, c.AD 895-910. Obverse, +OARI.VS (A inverted), in centre A. Reverse, +O_IICIS; cross pattee.
Memorial coinage by Danish settlers. The inscriptions are blundered, which is typical of the later coins within the St Edmund series. On both sides the final letter is an S on its side, which is not unusual in this period.
