The coin is damaged and the copper alloy core is visible where the silver plate has been damaged.

A Roman silver coin: a denarius of Tiberius dating from AD 14 - 37 (Reece period 1), the reverse legend PONTIF MAXIM (retrograde). The reverse depicts a female figure, seated right on a chair with ornate legs, holding a sceptre and olive branch, a single line below. The mint Lyon. Reference: RIC I, number 30. The coin is 19.3mm in diameter and 2.1mm thick. It weighs 3.5gm. It should be noted that modern reproductions of this coin exist and the bumpy surface of the field may suggest that this coin is a copy.
