A silver plated, unclipped contemporary copy of a Roman siliqua recorded originally as a coin of Julian (AD 360-363), but perhaps more plausibly copying a coin of Valens (AD 364-378), dating to the period c.AD 367-375 (Reece period 19). VOT/X/MVLT/XX reverse type depicting the legend within a wreath. Prototype of the mint of Lyon. cf. RIC IX, p. 46, no. 19; Hoxne no. 302. See also BH-3C8D37 on this database for a similar contemporary plated copy of Valens with this reverse type and similar obverse die.
