A worn and over-cleaned Post-Medieval copper alloy farthing of Charles II (AD 1660-1685), dated to AD 1672-1679. Mint of London. Spink (2011: 341), no. 3394. The coin had developed a pale green patina all over, but this appears to have been aggressively removed on both faces right down to the bare metal, leaving the relief areas disproportionally shiny and (particularly on the reverse) resulting in a loss of definition and a scratched/pitted surface.
