The coin is very worn and displays two sub-parallel straightned folds suggesting it may have been repurposed as a love token.
DUR-735B12 notes that: "Love tokens' were made using coins dating from the time of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603) to the reign of Anne (AD 1702-1714) with some Georgian examples and some as late as the Victorian period. A Post Medieval milled silver coin of Charles II (AD 1660 - 1685); a threepence dating from AD 1679. The coin is pierced with a large hole punched through the back of the King's neck, having a diameter of 2.7mm. Compare number 3386 on page 339 of Spink's Standard catalogue (2011). Measurements are; diameter 17.3mm, thickness 0.8mm and weight 12.44g. The perforation has a diameter of 2.7mm.
