The coin has been pierced from the reverse. The pierced hole is at 12 o'clock on the obverse, 6 o'clock on the reverse, and measures approximately 1.5mm in diameter. Obverse: Laureate bust of king facing right. Obverse inscription: CAROLVS II DEI GRATIA. Reverse: Three 'C's linked with crown above. Reverse inscription: MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX 1679. It measures approximately 17.5mm and weighs 1.40g.
