A silver penny of Cnut (1016-1035), quatrefoil type dating to 1017-1023. Obverse: crowned bust, left within quatrefoil, legend CNUT REX ANGLORUM. Reverse: quatrefoil with pellet at apex of each cusp, long cross voided, each limb terminating in three crescents. Moneyer Wulfwine, London mint. North (1994), p167, number 781.

An Early Medieval silver penny of Cnut (AD1016-1035), dating AD1024-1030. North no. 787. The coin is fragmentary but almost 100% remains so it is possible to identify. The coins is of the pointed helmet variety, with a bust facing left wearing a pointed hat and sceptre in front. The inscription reads CNVT / [R]EX ANL. The obverse depicts a voided long cross with a pellet in the centre, in each quarter a broken annulet with a pellet within. The inscription reads PYNSTAN ON LVND, indicating the moneyer as Wynstan from the London mint. Dimensions: diameter: 18.17 mm; weight: 0.92g.
