Large vessel rim fragment dating to the Roman period, (45-410AD). The rim is sub-rectangular in plan and curved in profile. The internal fabric is mid-grey in colour, while the outer fabric of the vessel is mid-brown. Below the rim, and defining it is a large groove. Within this groove are two moulded ridges for decoration. The fragment is in poor condition. The size and form of the fragment indicates that it may have formed part of a Roman amphora.
