Three large rim sherds from storage vessels of Post-Medieval date with a combined total weight of 448.75g. 1) A glazed red earthenware storage jar rim with thumbed decoration on the exterior surface beneath the rim and a unevenly applied glossy red/brown glaze. It measures 105.75mm in width, 67.43mm in height, 15.54mm in thickness at rim, and weighs 150.20g. Pottery Sherd of Staffordshire Slipware, probably from close to the edge of a plate or platter. Off-white fabric bears creamy yellow base glaze with dark brown decoration, on one side only - reverse is unglazed. The sherd bears a motif of vertical lines –or possibly lettering – between two zones of marbling. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1700-1750. Finder’s reference: This sherd was found 46 years ago (i.e. 1964) in a field outside the village, around the time of the finder’s marriage, and was retained as a keepsake.

A Post Medieval pottery body sherd from a Frechen stoneware bottle- a Bartmann or “Bellarmine” dating to the 16th century. The sherd includes part of the applied oval portrait medallion showing a man’s profile facing left within a border comprising a ring of twisted rope and then scalloped drapery. The figure is wearing a neck ruff and a helmet. The fabric is grey with a brown salt glaze on the external surface. Dimensions: weight: 44.05g. Identified by Roy Stephenson Medieval and Post Medieval pottery specialist.

A fragment of a ceramic handle from a post-Medieval (17th to 18th century) pottery vessel. The handle, which is broken off at both ends, forms a wide curve and has a low rim projecting from its outer edge. The fabric is redware and the surface retains much of its original lead glaze, which varies between greenish- and orangey-brown in colour. The edges of the break are slightly abraded. An incomplete post-Medieval ceramic skillet (c. 1550-c. 1700). This shallow vessel has a complete solid handle, circular in cross-section, with a circular button-like terminal. Flanked on either side of the handle, where it joins the body of the vessel, there is a thumb or finger impression. The inner olive green glazed face has a rectangular depression in line with the handle. The fabric has a high sand content and is yellowish red (Munsell Color: 5YR 5/6). The find was located in the inter-tidal zone, close to HWM and all the breaks are abraded. 138.0 x 95.0mm. 290.83g.

Base fragment of a South Devon smooth-ware vessel. The fragment is irregular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. It would have formed the circular base of a vessel. The base of the object is light orange with no inclusions. The internal fabric is light grey with small occasional inclusions while the upper surface is glazed with a mottled mid-brown glaze. The outer edge curves slightly upwards where is has broken.
