Iron and copper alloy penknife fragment. Two iron blades and possibly another implement for a folding knife, retained between fragmentary flat plain copper alloy side plates of thickness 0.7mm by long rivets – whether one or two is now uncertain. A flat oval plate with faint traces of cross-hatching marks the end of the knife handle. Side plates of bone or ivory would have been secured outside the copper plates which remain and would have butted up to the end plate. It is a lozenge shaped in section, double-edged and tapering to a rough point. It is probably almost complete as a blade, narrowing a little at the upper end before an early rough break but there is no indication of a haft or attachment to a handle. Iron strip, perhaps the blade from a knife. It is 120mm long and one end is encased in delaminating corrosion. Away from this end, it is generally around 19mm wide, with one edge straight and 3mm thick, tapering to the other edge which may represent the cutting edge. The end without the corrosion layers has the cutting edge curving up to meet the back of the blade in a rounded point. The corroded end is broken and has no evidence of a whittle tang. A heavily corroded post-medieval iron axehead. The axe consists of a single blade which is curved downwards. The top curves upwards slightly. The blade is sharpened to a V section at the cutting edge. At the attachment end of the axe is a hole which would have initially socketed into a wooden haft which has come loose or eroded over time.  Iron axes can be hard to date, as the forms change little, but the heavy and ongoing corrosion suggests that this axe has not been in the ground for many centuries. A fragment of an iron probable late medieval to early post-medieval scabbard chape. Only the lower end of the object survives. This is a cast, hollow flat triangular chape with a jagged break around its upper edge and a flattened globular terminal projecting from its lower end. The surface of the metal is heavily corroded. An iron horseshoe dating from the 19th to early 20th century. It is made of wrought iron and is of a heavy cast bar toe clip type, not fullered (grooved) and with calkins at each terminal.  There are four rectangular holes on each side to allow iron nails to attach the shoe to the horse's hoof.  The remains of one of the nails is still in situ.  This horseshoe  is quite heavily corroded and has a mainly dark brown patina. A corroded Post Medieval-Modern iron single loop trapezoidal buckle, c.AD 1750-1970. This buckle is complete and consists of a trapezoidal frame and an iron pin which has a raised ridge near the frame. This ridge or 'grip' was probably to allow more pressure to be applied to the pin when undoing or doing up the buckle. The strap (and pin) bar is the longer of the two unequal edges. The shorter edge retains a sheet iron roller.

An incomplete Roman iron miniature spear, dating to the period AD 330-410. What remains is the spear and the shaft, measuring 196.22mm in length and weighs 31.51g in total. The miniature spear appears to be broadly circular in cross-section, but this is unclear as heavy corrosion obscures much of the original shape.
